After receiving a diagnosis in 2016 of malignant melanoma (skin cancer), founder Salina Tewelde began a centering self-care routine that focused on skincare. She studied healing botanicals traditionally used by her Eritrean ancestors and introduced to her by her grandmother. She integrated natural ingredients and practices into her daily skincare regimen and adopted a more holistic lifestyle.
Inspired by her grandmother and encouraged by her parents’ message of cultural resilience and practice, her new habits honored and protected her wellbeing and helped her find spiritual renewal.
